Continuing market volatility from President Donald Trump’s evolving tariff policies will create some buying opportunities for investors, according to Morgan Stanley chief investment officer and chief U.S. equity strategist Mike Wilson. “People … in my view, should be looking to buy weakness over the next two months as we retest these levels on this uncertainty,” Wilson said. He foresees a “very tricky” trading environment for at least the next two to three months until clarity is reached on trade policy and inflation odds. “Equity investors are used to being sort of, bailed out, so to speak, from the Fed or from fiscal stimulus. And right now, both of those are on hold, and so we’re kind of flying without a safety net,” said Wilson. He clarified that with the S & P 500 near the 5,500 resistance level Monday morning, now is “probably not a great spot to be adding risk.” A better time to increase exposure is when the S & P 500 pulls back to around 5,480, per Wilson. The strategist added that while “equities are not cheap” at the index level, there are opportunities at the individual stock level. “Many, many stocks have gotten very, very cheap, and that’s where the value is. You have to dig beneath the surface a little bit,” said Wilson. Get Your Ticket to Pro LIVE Join us at the New York Stock Exchange! Uncertain markets?
