Iraq’s Shia cleric Muqtada al-Sadr has called on the US embassy in Baghdad to be closed on Friday as Washington are providing “unfettered support” for Israel.
Al-Sadr has millions of followers and has hundreds of thousands of supporters across Iraq and has called on US forces to leave the country.
Al-Sadr warned, “If the government and parliament do not abide by this demand, we will go for further actions which we will later announce.”
AL-Sadr is a politician and a militia leader of the Sadrist Movement and during the Iraq war he led “Mahdi Army” against the US military being in the country.

In the West Bank hundreds of Palestinians demonstrated on the streets of Ramallah chanting “liberate Gaza” showing their support for Hamas.
Hundreds of protestors chanted “the people want the Al-Qassam Brigades” which are the armed wing of Hamas.
The powerful Iraqi politician, Hadi al Amiri, who is a key figure in the cross-party alliance backing Iraq’s government, warned that all American targets will be considered “legitimate,” if the US gets involved.
Al Amiri leads the Badr Organisation, a Shi’ite political group which is strongly supported by Iran.
The Badr organisation make up a large proportion of Iraq’s Popular Mobilisation Forces, a state paramilitary organisation, this contains an enormous amount of Iran-backed factions.
Al Amiri warned, “If they intervene, we would intervene… if the Americans intervened openly in this conflict… we will consider all American targets legitimate… and we will not hesitate to target it.”
On Thursday a US destroyer has shot down Iranian missiles and drones which were fired from Yemen by the Houthi rebel group who support Hamas and the Palestinians.
The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Carney (DDG 64) which is in the Red Sea shot down the missiles and Pentagon officials have said they believe that Israel was the target.
Pentagon spokesman Brigadier General Pat Ryder, said three “land-attack cruise missiles and several drones” were intercepted by the US Destroyer.
Last week a US Navy warship shot down missiles fired by the Houthi rebel group based in Yemen heading for Israel.
