The Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has accused the US of “managing the genocide” on Palestinians.

He warned that if the US President Joe Biden does not convince Israel to stop bombing the Gaza Strip, then Americans “won’t be spared from the fire” as they will suffer from the consequences.

The Iranian Foreign Minister said in a furious outburst at the United Nations General Assembly in New York that if the US does not stop Israel from committing “genocide” in Palestine there will be severe repercussions for Americans.

Speaking at the General Assembly he warned, “I say frankly to the American statesmen, who are now managing the genocide in Palestine, that we do not welcome (an) expansion of the war in the region.

“But if the genocide in Gaza continues, they will not be spared from this fire.”

On Friday Israeli forces raided northern Gaza, engaging with Hamas fighters, as they attempt to “prepare the battlefield” ready for a ground invasion.

Sky News’ security and defence analyst Michael Clarke alluded that and an Israeli Defence Force (IDF) spokesman said that Israeli ground raids are all part of “preparations for the next stages of war.”

Israeli forces conducted fresh raids in the central area of Gaza and struck “dozens” of Hamas targets (see 8.18 post).

IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari, who said infantry and air forces carried out a targeted raid “during the last day” as part of “preparations for the next stages of the war” and that “dozens” of Hamas targets were hit, the broadcaster reported.

Hagari said the military raids allowed the IDF to “uncover the enemy,” kill many Hamas militants and remove mines and rocket launch pads.

The Iranian Foreign Minister added at the UN Assembly, “The Islamic Republic of Iran stands ready to play its part in this very important humanitarian endeavour, along with Qatar and Turkey.

“Naturally, the release of the 6,000 Palestinian prisoners is another necessity and responsibility of the global community.”

A top US official said, “While we remain opposed to a ceasefire, we think humanitarian pauses linked to the delivery of aid that still allow Israel to conduct military operations to defend itself are worth consideration.”

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken told the UN Security Council, “Palestinian civilians are not to blame for the carnage committed by Hamas.

“Palestinian civilians must be protected. That means Hamas must cease using them as human shields … It means Israel must take all possible precautions to avoid harm to civilians.”

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said to his American counterpart, “There are a lot of conversations going on now about the need for humanitarian pauses and I think that’s something Canada supports.

“We must remain anchored on the priorities of protecting innocent (people) and freeing the hostages.”
