Israel has carried out “large scale airstrikes” on “Russia’s Khmeimim Airbase” in Western Syria and coastal cities.
On Thursday Syrian and Russian air defences sprung into action as Israel targeted warehouses thought to be loaded with Iranian weaponry.
The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that warships and warplanes were seen int the sea and skies which were “believed to be Israeli.”
They added, “The air defenses of the [Syrian] regime and Russian forces confronting the missiles for more than 40 minutes.”

SOHR reported, “Unknown drones … carried out airstrikes targeting an ammunition warehouse near Jablah city in Latakia countryside, near the largest Russian air base in Syria, which led to the warehouse’s destruction and huge explosions heard from far away.”

The Israeli air strikes took place after an Iranian cargo plane from Qeshm Fars Company (Qeshm) arrived at the Russian airbase.
The Iranian cargo plane had arrived on Tuesday allegedly carrying “humanitarian aid” for Lebanese citizens in Syria which raised suspicions in Israel the cargo plane was carrying weapons.
Russia Today reporter wrote, “An Iranian Boeing-747 with the code QFZ9951, operated by Fars Air Qeshm, landed stealthily at Latakia Airport, with its navigation systems off, the previous morning. It departed eight hours before the attack.”
The Syrian Foreign Ministry said, “For the second time in two days, the Zionist entity committed another crime, targeting a residential building in a densely populated area in Damascus, killing three civilians, injuring many others, and causing significant damage.”
Syrian news outlet, @syr_television, wrote on X, “Syrian TV sources: The Israeli bombing began at 3:55 and ended at 4:41, with thirty missiles from naval battleships.”
They added, “Sources to Syria TV: Israel bombed the Hmeimim base an hour after the arrival of an Iranian plane belonging to the Qashim Fars company.”
