The Israeli Defence Force (IDF) are conducting bombing raids in the Gaza Strip near to the fence at Beit Hanoun which is used by Hamas to carry out attacks in Israel.

“Dozens” of Israeli fighter jets have started an intense air strike against the “terrorist organisation” of Hamas.

A spokesperson said, “The IDF is attacking targets in the areas near the fence in Beit Hanun, which are used by the terrorist organisation Hamas to carry out attacks against the State of Israel.

“The IDF will continue to act against the terrorist organisation Hamas.”

The IDF has also said that they are evacuating settlements in southern Israel close to the border fence of Gaza.

A spokesperson said, “Residents were asked to evacuate their homes. Further evacuations will be done according to the assessment of the situation.”

Since Hamas launched their offensive in Israel on Saturday morning hundreds of Palestinians have been killed in retaliatory Israeli military action.

The health ministry in the Gaza Strip said on Sunday morning said this morning, that they are expecting the body count to rise.

The health ministry said that at least 370 Palestinians have been confirmed dead and a further 2,200 have been injured so far.

The IDF spokesperson said, “The IDF is attacking targets in the areas near the fence at Beit Hanoun, which are used by the Hamas terror group to carry out attacks against the State of Israel.”

They added, “IDF fighter jets just struck Hamas terrorist targets in Gaza that were used to attack Israel.”

Israel has said that so far more than 400 strikes has hit Gaza and they insist that they are only targeting Hamas infrastructure.

The Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned all citizens in the Gaza Strip to leave immediately as the area will be reduced “to rubble.”

The Israeli Security Cabinet said on Sunday that because they are now at war they will carry out “significant military activities,” The Times of Israel reported.

Artillery, tanks, aircraft and thousands of reservists have been mobilised in preparation for a possible tactical ground assault in the Gaza Strip.

Israeli police and the security services have been heavily engaged in fierce fighting on Sunday near to the border with Gaza and the police are capturing Hamas militants.
