JackRabbit’s OG micro e-bike is going for a killer price ahead of discontinuation

If you’ve been on the fence about getting one of JackRabbit’s quirky little micro e-bikes, then this is probably the best deal you’re ever going to find on a JackRabbit OG.

Having already rolled out the JackRabbit OG2 as a new generation of the pint-sized electric runabout, the company is sunsetting the previous model.

That’s right, it’s sending the OG out to pasture. It’s going to a farm upstate. It’s resting under the shade of a big oak tree. It’s taking one last ride into that eternal sunset.

Basically, they’re killing it off. Not because there’s anything wrong with it, but because the OG2 is now the next, better version.

However, that also means JackRabbit apparently has to clear off its shelves of OGs and has now marked them down to just $799. That’s a discount of $200 over the MSRP, and compared to the JackRabbit OG2 at $1,249, it’s a pretty darn attractive price.

As a refresher, the JackRabbit OG is a 20 mph and 24 lb bike-like micro mobility device designed to be extremely portable. I say bike-like, because it’s not really a bicycle since it doesn’t have pedals. Instead, it has fold out foot pegs that help keep it lighter and more compact.

That means it’s technically a scooter, though I can speak from experience when I say it feels more like a short wheelbase bike than a scooter.

It uses 20″ bicycle wheels, a bicycle handlebar, bicycle saddle, and basically gives you the stability of a bicycle instead of small-wheeled concern of a standing scooter.

It’s also super easy to travel with, which I’ve done before, even flying internationally with my JackRabbit OG (see below).

The main downside to the JackRabbit OG, besides that you’re not going to get much exercise, is that t’s not terribly long-range.

It offers just 10 miles per charge of its cute little battery. However, you can of course carry a second battery (which would fit in the pocket of any self-respecting cargo pants wearer) or use JackRabbit’s RangeBuster battery to get 24 miles per charge.

It seems its best use case for something like this is for quick and easy urban transit, especially for riders who don’t have a lot of space in their apartment or dorm room for a big bike. But there are also plenty of people who use a JackRabbit OG recreationally, even riding on trails and taking it off-roading.

Whoever set up this picture is hilarious. Carry your one piece of firewood back to camp!

Basically, the JackRabbit OG is a very specific kind of ride, but it fills a niche that more people could benefit from than probably realize it. And for $799, there just aren’t any other 24 lb electric bike-like devices out there that offer these specs. (Yes, I KNOW…… before you tell me in the comments, I know the Lectric XP Lite 2.0 is also $799, and it’s awesome. I love it, I do. But it’s over twice the weight for the same speed. It’s a great bike for another niche, but it’s not going to fit in a 7″ gap under a dorm room bed or let me lift it with one finger.)

This is probably the only time we’ll ever see a JackRabbit at this price, and once it’s gone it will be gone for good.

So if you’re in the market for a fun and unique ride, this is your chance.
