The radical EV continues turning heads, for better or worse. Jaguar’s controversial Type 00 EV concept made a statement during its public debut in Paris. Even a few celebrities took it for a spin. In real life, the ultra-luxury vehicle still looks fake. Check it out for yourself in the video below.

Jaguar’s new EV still looks controversial in public debut

After unveiling the Type 00 late last year, Jaguar’s new EV concept caused quite the stir. Some loved it while many poked fun, comparing it to Pink Panther and Barbie’s dream car.

Even Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk, and EV startup Lucid Motor teased the struggling British luxury automaker. Love it or hate it, Jaguar is embracing the spotlight. The company has had more attention over the past few months and that’s exactly how it wants it to be.

Jaguar’s controversial EV made its first official public debut in Paris this week since it was unveiled in December. The blocky two-door concept looks just as radical in real-life as it does in the pictures.

It almost looks like it was generated with Grok or some other AI. The Type 00 was spotted carrying several celebrities including Barry Keoghan, Jamie Dornan and Zoë Saldaña.

The vehicle “previews what’s to come from Jaguar” as the company looks to revamp the British sports car brand for the EV era.

During an interview with The Sunday Times in December, CEO Adrian Mardell said the new lineup will likely be priced around £150,000, or nearly $200,000.

The first model from the series will be a luxury four-door GT. In a recent interview with Autocar, Jaguar’s managing director, Rawdon Glover, said the new EV is “right in the midst” of testing on public roads as it preps for launch.

Although Jaguar has been focused on revamping the brand, including a new logo and design, the company is about to enter “a very different phase” to advance the vehicle’s engineering, electrical architecture, and more.

After driving the 986 horsepower range-topping GT variant, Glover said it was “the most fun” he’d had during his two years as Jaguar’s boss. The company is targeting a range of around 430 miles for the most efficient variant.

Jaguar will unveil the electric 4-door GT later this year with production scheduled for mid-2026. It will be followed by at least two more luxury EVs, which are expected to be a sedan and an SUV.
