Unlike big-budget action films that are “review-proof,” Eisenberg’s work—especially as a writer—relies heavily on critical reception. “My career, especially as a writer, has relied on criticism, because we live and die by it. My background is theatre, and so if you know, if you do a play in an opening night, you get bad reviews, you close. And so, I’ve been a person who’s benefited, but it has also been maybe a disadvantage by negative reviews, advantaged by good reviews.”
