British defence firm BAE Systems who build fighter planes and naval vessels have signed contracts so that the FTSE 100 company will build artillery in Ukraine.

BAE Systems CEO Charles Woodburn met with President Volodymyr Zelensky and have agreed to establish a legal entity within Ukraine to manufacturer British designed advance weaponry.

Woodburn said this “paves the way for us to work together to provide more direct support to the Ukrainian armed forces,” which will see BAE expanding into local manufacturing and create direct contracts with the Ukrainian military.

The Ukrainian Minister for Strategic sector, Oleksandr Kamyshin is happy that BAE Systems are committed to work with Ukraine against Russia’s aggression.

This has been met “negatively” by the Kremlin who have warned that BAE Systems will “become objects” for Vladimir Putin’s so called “special operation.”

The Kremlin said it saw BAE Systems opening up in Ukraine “negatively”, and that the company and  any production facilities producing weapons to be used against Russia will become legitimate targets for Russia’s military, Reuters reports.

Dmitry Peskov was asked about the move in a call with reporters, the Kremlin spokesperson, said, “Of course, any facilities for the production of weapons, especially if these weapons fire at us, they become objects of special attention for our military.”
