The Mayor of Kyiv Vitali Klitschko has said that they will spend a further UAH 1 billion on the Armed Forces of Ukraine next year.

Klitschko said that communities have paid 40% of personal income tax for the state budget and more will be taken.

To help the Ukrainian soldiers and their families Kyiv will take “away their military personal income tax.”

Klitschko said, “Despite the fact that the parliament has actually deprived the capital and other cities and towns of the opportunity to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine, taking away their military personal income tax, Kyiv will continue to support our defenders as best it can.

“In 2024, the capital will send another UAH 1 billion under the Defender of Kyiv program in support of our soldiers, and will also continue to attract help from our partners in order to transfer the most necessary things to the front.”

He added, “Now even more funds will be taken from communities. We are unlikely to see detailed reports from the central government about where exactly they went.

“But we will continue, in conditions of limited opportunities, to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine and military units that appeal to us.”
