The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is urging the West to impose sanctions and to send political signals to Tehran as they are supplying Russia with missiles that “kill Ukrainians.”

President Zelensky has called on the international community to strongly urge Iran against supplying deadly weaponry to Vladimir Putin.

Zelenskyy said as cited by state news agency Ukrinform, “It is necessary to work with Iran so that Iran could [not] supply drones to the Russian Federation, and also to come up with a reasonable sanctions policy and undertake political efforts to work with Iran so that they do not supply missiles to Russia.

“Today, we do not see this happening, but we definitely see that it might happen.”

He added, “You know that many of their ‘products’ that are launched to kill Ukrainians consist of parts or elements produced by companies from all over the world.

“Therefore, sanctions should be applied not only to Russia, but also to those entities and governments that send them the relevant parts.”

Russia has been supplied with hundreds of the Shahed kamikaze and surveillance drones which are used for reconnaissance.

On Saturday Kyiv was hit with the “biggest drone attack” since the start of the war using the Iranian made “Shahed” drones.

Officials in Kyiv said at least 40 of the fleet of drones were shot down and explosions were heard across the capital.

Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko said nearly 75 drones were involved in the attack and at least 40 were downed causing damage in the city by falling debris.

Residents in the city heard warning sirens saying, “A large number of enemy UAVs are entering Kyiv from different directions! We urge you to stay in shelters until the alarm goes off!”

The Ukrainian Air Force said that there was a “record number” of the kamikaze Shahed drones sent to attack Kyiv.

A post read on Telegram, “A total of nearly 75 Shahed drones were launched from two directions – Primorsko-Akhtarsk and the Kursk region, Russia.

Ukrainian Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk said, “The primary target was the city of Kyiv.

“Anti-aircraft missile troops, tactical aviation, mobile fire groups, and electronic warfare units were involved in repelling the air attack.”
