Gary Neville warns FSG over Jurgen Klopp

The Sky Sports pundit wants Liverpool’s owners to spend big this summer.

“Jurgen Klopp has got to be supported,” he said.

“He was supported when they fell short by being able to push themselves in the transfer market, they’ll have to go there again this summer.

“Other teams are going to invest, Klopp’s strength over the last six or seven years has been the quality of football but also the strength of recruitment, he’s been able to get the most out of players, who ultimately haven’t cost stupid amounts, Van Dijk, Allison and Nunez aside.

Leicester must hold off Liverpool’s fast start

Leicester will need to be weary from the off as Liverpool have scored 11 goals in the first 15 minutes of matches, with only Aston Villa starting matches faster. Leicester are also most likely to concede in the first 15 minutes of matches, having conceded 12 times in the opening 15 minutes already this season, the 3rd highest in the Premier League, behind Tottenham and Bournemouth.

Liverpool score just over half their goals in the second half of matches (35/67), but are in fact most deadly in the 15 minutes before half time, and only Brentford have scored more goals in the 15 minute window before half time of matches.

Liverpool will also be weary of Leicester’s goal scoring threat from the outset, as they are a stronger 1st half side, scoring 57.13% of their 49 goals in the 1st half of matches this season, with their most fruitful period also the 15 minutes before half time where they’ve netted 14 times this season.

Liverpool are also most vulnerable in the first 15 minutes of matches where they have let 9 goals in this season, so keeping a tight ship will serve The Reds well, especially as they’ve only conceded 7 times in the final 15 minutes of matches. Only Chelsea and Newcastle have conceded less, on 6.

The key match-up will surely be Leicester’s top scorer Harvey Barnes taking on offensively-minded Trent Alexander-Arnold. Liverpool have conceded 19 goals from open play down their right-hand side, compared to just 13 on their left, proving to be the most vulnerable area on the pitch for Liverpool this season.

Jurgen Klopp addresses rumours linking Liverpool with Alexis Mac Allister

Jurgen Klopp insists there is nothing to report on Liverpool’s reported chase of Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister.

Ahead of what is expected to be a major rebuild at Anfield this summer, the Argentine World Cup winner has strongly been linked with a move to the Merseyside giants.

After pulling out of a move for Jude Bellingham, Mac Allister – who has previously been of interest to Chelsea too – has been touted as a major £70m target.

The player’s father has already admitted his son will “likely” move on from Brighton at the end of the season after a productive four-year spell on the south coast.

Arsenal and Liverpool handed transfer boost over Caicedo and Mac Allister

Arsenal and Liverpool appear to have been boosted in their respective transfer pursuits of star Brighton duo Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister.

The South American pair have been absolutely instrumental in the Seagulls’ incredible rise this term under first Graham Potter and then managerial successor Roberto De Zerbi, each being midfield mainstays and Caicedo even demonstrating his valuable versatility of late as a makeshift right-back.

But their form certainly has not gone unnoticed by Premier League rivals, with Mac Allister committing himself to Brighton in January after winning the World Cup with Argentina and Caicedo extending his contract despite being unhappy at being denied a dream £70million move to title challengers Arsenal.

Prediction: Liverpool to win 3-0

The Foxes are enduring a rather tame fall into the Championship but, as Liverpool well know, this is the time of year when surprise results come out of nowehere.

Or, as the case may be, when clubs heading downwards collapse yet further against a ruthless rival.

Liverpool to win, 3-0.

Leicester team news: Iheanacho a doubt

Kelechi Iheanacho is the main focus of Leicester’s efforts as he looks to return from a groin injury.

Jannik Vestergaard, Ryan Bertrand and James Justin will all miss out and interim boss Dean Smith may bring Wilfred Ndidi back into his lineup after shipping five goals at Fulham last time out.
