Rain and snow to cause midweek pain but warmer weather to come

The Lionesses, England’s phenomenal women’s football team has secured their place in the World Cup final on Sunday, 27 July 2025, inspiring a nation with their skill, determination, and unshakable team spirit.

Their journey to the top is not just a story of athletic brilliance but also a powerful lesson in mental resilience, proving that success is as much about mindset as it is about ability.

As the current Lionesses squad prepare for the biggest match of their careers, the conversation around mental wellbeing in high-pressure moments has never been more relevant.

Elite athletes know that protecting their mental space is just as crucial as physical training.

Before a big game, I take time to breathe, focus, and block out the noise,” says 14-year-old grassroots footballer. The Lionesses show us that believing in yourself is half the battle.

Mary Earps, stated, “Anyone who has ever been in a dark place, just know that there’s light at the end of the tunnel. Sometimes success looks like collecting trophies, sometimes it’s just waking up and putting one step in front of the other. Be unapologetic for yourself”.

The Lionesses’ success is a testament to the power of teamwork, self-belief, and mental strength, qualities that extend far beyond the pitch. Their journey reminds us all of the importance of safeguarding our mental wellbeing, whether in sports, school, or everyday life.

As we celebrate the Lionesses’ historic achievement, SWIPE is proud to announce an upcoming initiative to support the mental wellbeing of students, teachers, and parents in schools across the London. Drawing from the principles in SWIPE: Mastering the Art of Handling Trolls and Protecting Your Peace, this program will equip young people with tools to navigate challenges, build resilience, and thrive, both online and offline.
