A

man in his 60s has died after a car collided with several people waiting at a bus stop in north London.

Police and paramedics rushed to the scene on the A406 Angel Road in Edmonton around 2.50pm on Tuesday, to reports of a car crash.

A Scotland Yard spokesperson said: “At the scene, a car was found to be in collision with three people who were standing at a bus stop.

“Despite the efforts of emergency services, a man, believed to be aged in his 60s, died at the scene. His family has been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.” Two other people were taken to hospital for treatment. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The driver stopped at the scene and is helping police with their enquiries. There have been no arrests.

The crash is understood to have taken place at near Edmonton’s Ravenside Retail Park.

Photos taken in the aftermath of the crash show the bus stop – which appears to be situated in the middle of two carriageways – destroyed and cordoned off by police tape.

At least 12 emergency vehicles were pictured at the scene on Tuesday afternoon. Emergency services remained there hours later, while a police tent had been erected.

Road closures were in place on Tuesday evening, and heavy traffic queuing on the A406 in both directions.

The crash happened near to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where Beyonce was due to perform her second London concert on Tuesday.

The stadium warned the thousands of fans travelling to the concert to allow extra time to reach the venue.

Detectives from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses or anyone who captured the incident on dashcam to come forward.
