Manchester United host Nottingham Forest in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final at Old Trafford tonight safe in the knowledge they already have one foot in the final. A resounding 3-0 win away at the City Ground last week has Erik ten Hag’s side on the brink of a trip to Wembley, where Newcastle await following their victory over Southampton.
While ten Hag has been at pains to stress United won’t get carried away with themselves, it’s difficult to ignore their huge lead. Forest, of course, do boast quality but it would take an almighty turnaround from here and Steve Cooper’s side clearly have other things on which to focus between now and the end of the season.
United are looking for their first trophy since 2017 and, barring a complete collapse this evening, will be favourites to win the competition outright later this month. Follow all of the action LIVE with Standard Sport’s dedicated match blog!
