The Metropolitan Police has been prosecuted and fined £1,000 as they failed to respond to Staffordshire Police over a speeding ticket.
Staffordshire Police bought a criminal case against the Metropolitan Police as a police van was caught speeding on the M6.
Court papers shows the Met police van failed to respond when they were asked to identify the police officer driving a Peugeot van which was caught speeding by a speed camera on 13 March at 1.47am.
Staffordshire Police prosecuted the Met using a fast-track Single Justice Procedure for offence of failing to provide the information of who the driver was.
Walsall magistrates court found the Met guilty last month and sent an order for Scotland Yard to pay £1,000 fine, £400 victim surcharge and £120 in costs.
The unmarked police van was travelling at 49mph in a 40 zone on the M6 between junctions 15 and 16, the Standard reported.
