The original song, titled Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, was recorded at Long Dog Studios and produced by Piers Nolan.
When asked about the song title, Day said: “I guarantee it will be on everyone’s lips over the weeks ahead!”
Available to download on Bandcamp for a donation of just £2 or more, it is hoped that the song will both raise awareness and significant funds for the two charities.
Day continued: “Many people know that I enjoy writing and performing and I have a number of my original songs recorded and available across the twenty three streaming channels including Spotify, Apple, Amazon, Deezer, TikTok, Instagram, You Tube and others.
“This Christmas song has a message of remembering those that may need help and sharing some joy and kindness at this important time of year.
“I hope that people will enjoy the song in its own right but, more importantly, that they will make a donation to download – the minimum is £2 but there is no maximum! – and that they will also share and encourage family, friends and work colleagues to do likewise.
“All monies raised (after Bandcamp platform costs) will be shared equally between Diabetes UK and The Propertymark Trust.
“Both charities are close to me heart – I have been a type one diabetic for over 35 years and have raised around £7500 for Diabetes UK in the last three years. I am also a Director and Trustee at The Propertymark Trust which supports members of Propertymark, their families and employees with hardship grants and educational grants and bursaries.”
