Moldova has warned that Vladimir Putin is planning a coup d’etat by bringing in foreign saboteurs to “change power in Chisinau.”

The Moldovan President Maia Sandu said Moscow wants to attack government buildings and stage “violent actions disguised as protests.”

Sandu said, “Through violent actions disguised as protests by the so-called opposition, the change of power in Chisinau would be forced.”

Ukrainian intelligence has passed sensitive documents which allegedly “contains instructions on the rules of entry into Moldova for citizens of Russia, Belarus, Serbia, and Montenegro.”

Sandu has claimed that Moscow are “to overturn the constitutional order, to change the legitimate power from Chisinau to an illegitimate one that would put [Moldova] at Russia’s disposal to stop the European integration process.”

Last Thursday Kyiv said they have “intercepted” plans by “Russian intelligence” which warns that Moscow wants to destroy Moldova and “establish control” over the country.

President Zelensky told EU leaders last week on his trip across Europe, “I have informed [Sandu] her that we have intercepted the plan of the destruction of Moldova by the Russian intelligence.”

He told the leaders in Brussels that Ukrainian intelligence showed “who, when and how” Moscow’s plan would “break the democracy of Moldova and establish control over Moldova.”

On Friday the Moldovan foreign ministry said the country’s head of diplomacy, Nicu Popescu, has ordered the urgent summoning of the Russian ambassador Oleg Vasnetsov to Chisinau after another cruise missile entered their airspace.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief General Valerii Zaluzhnyi wrote on Telegram, “Today, February 10, at 10:18 am, two Russian Kalibr cruise missiles crossed the State border of Ukraine with the Republic of Moldova.

“The missiles were launched from the Black Sea.”

Moldova’s Defence said, “The Ministry of Defence, together with the responsible structures of the country, is closely monitoring the situation in the region and strongly condemns the violation of the airspace of the Republic of Moldova.”

The Moldovan foreign ministry said in a statement, “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration notes that the Russian side continues the war of aggression against Ukraine, and the missile attacks on the neighbouring country directly and negatively affect the citizens of our country.

“We strongly reject the recent unfriendly actions and statements in relation to the Republic of Moldova, a fact considered absolutely unacceptable by our people.

“We call on the Russian Federation to stop the military aggression against the neighbouring country which is causing numerous loss of human lives and material destruction.”

Last week the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said he believes the West are wanting to turn Moldova into “another Ukraine.”

Moldova’s national intelligence agency warned in December that Vladimir Putin could be set to launch an offensive to create a land corridor through southern Ukraine to the pro-Russian backed breakaway region of Transnistria.

In the breakaway region of Transnistria Moscow established around 1,500 troops as “peacekeepers” in the area.
