Moscow has issued yet another threat to Kyiv to accept Vladimir Putin’s peace proposal otherwise Russia will make life very difficult for Ukraine.

Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said that Russian forces will make things far “worse” if they do not.

Medvedev said, “Frankly speaking, I think that the president has said everything, I mean that the next peace proposal Russia makes will be worse for the Ukrainian authorities, no matter how we treat them.

“Now they have the opportunity to consider Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin’s peace proposal and at least try to make peace and end this part of the conflict.”

He added, “And it will be difficult to say where the lines of the buffer zone that Russian President Vladimir Putin mentioned will be.

“It’s very likely that all this will not work to the benefit of the current Ukrainian authorities.

“So they have to hurry while they still can.”

Whilst in Switzerland Ukrainian officials basically stuck two fingers up to Putin and his so-called peace proposals, which is nothing short of a land grab of eastern Ukraine.

A Ukrainian official said, Kyiv is “rejecting any proposals from the outset, taking the discussion back to the very beginning.

“In vain. So it will be worse from now on.”

Putin’s peace proposal consists of Ukrainian officials to meet with Russian diplomats whereby Kyiv will officially recognise the status of Crimea, the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, and the Zaporozhia and Kherson Regions as part of Russia.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg welcomes the Summit on Peace for Ukraine which took place in Switzerland which has also demonstrated broad international support for Kyiv.

The “peace summit” took place in Switzerland “over the weekend” and Stoltenberg said this demonstrated there is support for Ukraine.

The Secretary General said, “And as long as President Putin believes that they can win on the battlefield that they can wait us out, there will be no lasting peace in Ukraine.

“So if you want a peace in Ukraine, the best way of achieving that is to strengthen Ukraine, its military capabilities, so they can negotiate from a position of strength and ensure that Ukraine prevails and survive as a sovereign independent nation.”

He was asked by reporters to comment on Putin’s latest “peace” proposals, Stoltenberg replies, “Russia has not really put forward an offer [for peace].”

“President Putin said that the precondition for a ceasefire is that Ukraine should give up even more land, to give up all the four provinces that Russia has annexed without controlling.

“So not only should Ukraine give up the land that Russia is controlling today, but Ukraine should also give up land that Russia is not controlling today. That was a precondition for a ceasefire.

“This is not a peace offer.

“This is a proposal that Russia should actually achieve its war aims by convincing Ukraine to give up its sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
