In the early hours of Friday morning Ukraine was woken by air raid sirens blaring across the country and a city in the south was bombed 17 times in under an hour which was the “largest number” since the start of the war.

Local officials told all residents to “stay in shelters” and in the cities in Zaporizhzhya, Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk Oblasts Russian forces fired dozens of Iranian Shahed suicide drones.

Mayor of Zaporizhzhia Anatoly Kurtev said on Telegram, “As a result of massive morning rocket attacks in various districts of Zaporizhzhia, energy and industrial infrastructure facilities were damaged.

“Damage to the roof, windows, warehouses, facades, and fences was recorded at the facilities. In addition, fires broke out at the places of some arrivals.”

Air raid sirens were active for “three and a half hours” in every part of Ukraine “during Russia’s largest missiles attack” which also involved “long-range cruise missiles.”

An unnamed defence official warned that “it is possible” that Russia could launch “up to 100 missiles” and Moscow’s goals are to target “energy infrastructure.”

The Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief General Valerii Zaluzhnyi wrote on Telegram that Russian cruise missiles had “crossed Romanian airspace” at 10.33am local time.

Zaluzhny wrote, “Today, February 10, at 10:18 am, two Russian Kalibr cruise missiles crossed the State border of Ukraine with the Republic of Moldova.

“At approximately 10:33 am, these missiles crossed Romanian airspace. After that, they again entered the airspace.

“After that, they again entered the airspace of Ukraine at the crossing point of the borders of the three states.

“The missiles were launched from the Black Sea.”

Moldova’s Defence said, “The Ministry of Defence, together with the responsible structures of the country, is closely monitoring the situation in the region and strongly condemns the violation of the airspace of the Republic of Moldova.”

However, General Constantin Spînu, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Defence said, “The information regarding a Russian missile that would have flown over Romania’s airspace is not confirmed.

“We will return shortly with official information regarding this situation.”
