Overnight NATO fighter jets were scrambled as Russia launched a “massive” attack on Ukraine which saw a Ukrainian fighter jet shot down killing the pilot.
Ukraine shot down 475 out of 537 of aerial targets as the Air Force scrambled their F-16 fighter jets which shot down many Shahed type drones.
Russian strikes involved Tu-95 strategic nuclear capable bombers supported by Mig fighter jets.
The Port of Odessa in southern Ukraine was also hit overnight injuring 17 and killing at least two people.
Ukrainian city Kremenchuk was attacked with cruise missiles using Kinzhal and dagger hypersonic missiles and attack drones.

Air raid alarms sounded across the whole of Ukraine and Mig-31K jet capable of carrying ballistic missiles took off from Savasleyka airfield in Russia‘s Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, the Kyiv Independent reported.
The Air Force issued a warning that cruise missiles were headed to Ternopil, Lviv, and Ivano-Frankivsk oblasts in western Ukraine.
Lviv Mayor Andrii Sadovyi reported on Telegram, “Despite the complexity of this overnight combined attack, no one was injured and no civilian buildings were damaged in Lviv.”
Explosions were reported in Lviv, Kremenchuk, Zaporizhzhia, Cherkasy Oblast and Mykolaiv there was also attacks reported in Cherkasy Oblast.
Poland’s operational command said that NATO scrambled fighter jets due to “massive” attack on Ukraine.
“Due to the attack by the Russian Federation carrying out strikes on objects located in the territory of Ukraine, Polish and allied aviation has begun operating in our airspace,” said a statement.
“The Operational Commander of the [armed forces] has activated all available forces and resources at his disposal.
“The on-duty fighter pairs have been scrambled, and the ground-based air defence and radar reconnaissance systems have reached the highest state of readiness.
“The steps taken are aimed at ensuring security in the areas bordering the threatened areas.”
