This result is because of a pay rise of up to 10%, just goes to show the importance of being a union member and of standing together to fight for better pay, says GMB.

GMB, the union for retail and distribution, can announce that the strike action planned to beginning and continue into the run up to Christmas has been called off.

Members of the union had voted to take action over pay before the luxury retailer offered an improved pay offer last week.

Workers based in the company’s depot in Charlton will now be paid a minimum of the new London Living Wage of £13.15 per hour, meaning a pay rise of 10 per cent for some workers.

Mick Butler, GMB Regional Organiser said, “GMB members had demonstrated how unhappy they were with their pay, which up until this latest offer actually left them without a pay rise at all for the first six months of the year.

“This result – a pay rise of up to 10 per cent – just goes to show the importance of being a union member and of standing together to fight for better pay.

“Any worker who is unhappy with their pay needs to give GMB a call – we will help you to make work better for yourselves and your colleagues.”
