Student accommodation provider Nido Living has appointed Giuseppe Zafferri to lead its expansion into the Italian market.
Giuseppe Zafferri
Zafferri, who joins from CA Ventures, brings more than 18 years of experience in Italian real estate investment and acquisitions to the role. Prior to this, he was head of acquisition, project and construction management at Eurotekna, now Maston Investment Management.
Zafferri’s new role will focus on sourcing investment opportunities and overseeing development projects, leveraging his expertise to establish a strong foothold in the country’s burgeoning student accommodation sector.
His appointment builds on Nido’s recent leadership expansion, including Carlo Matta as chief executive, Ryan Lee as chief financial officer and Taco van Heusden as chief investment and development officer, and establishing a new board with Dr Beatrice Lafon as chairwoman.
Matta said: “Giuseppe’s proven leadership and extensive network in Milan and across Italy will be instrumental in Nido Living’s expansion.
“His expertise, particularly in identifying and developing prime opportunities, positions us to succeed in a market ripe for growth. We’re excited to welcome him as we continue our European journey.”
Zafferri added: “Italy faces a substantial gap between supply and demand for student accommodation. I’m excited to lead Nido’s strategic entry into this dynamic market.
“With experience in forward funding and real estate acquisitions, I look forward to contributing to Nido’s ambitious growth plans and vision for redefining student living across Europe.”
Nido was was recently acquired by the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and has since transitioned into a vertically integrated platform. This has added development and investment activities to its operational base.
