Poland scrambled all available forces on Sunday as Russia pounded Ukraine with more than 200 missiles and drones.

Russia launched a “large-scale” attack on Ukraine using ballistic, aero-ballistic missiles and Iranian Shahed drones, which prompted the Polish Air Force to scramble their fighter jets.

Poland’s Operational Command posted on X, “Due to a massive attack by Russia, which is carrying out strikes using cruise missiles, ballistic missiles and drones against sites located, among other places, in western Ukraine, operations by Polish and allied aircraft have begun.”

Russia launches a massive missile strike on Ukraine

President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Sunday morning that Ukrainian F-16s were scrambled and shot down 10 air targets and air defences shot down and destroyed 144 targets.

Russia attacked key infrastructure in Odesa, Volyn, Lviv, Dnipro and Rivne as Moscow “intimidates” Ukraine with the “cold and lack of light.”

President Zelensky said, “Russian terrorists once again want to intimidate us with cold and lack of light. They are repeating their actions and trying to get results from them.

“The whole world sees and knows that we are defending ourselves against absolute evil, which does not understand any language but force. We need unity, the world needs unity. Only together can we stop this evil.”

Andrii Sybiha, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister said that Russia launched one of its “largest air attacks” on “peaceful cities, sleeping civilians” and on “critical infrastructure.”

He added, “This is war criminal Putin’s true response to all those who called and visited him recently. We need peace through strength, not appeasement.”
