Rishi Sunak has carried out a mini-reshuffle of Whitehall Ministers and is creating four new government departments to boost economic growth and will address the energy crisis gripping the UK affecting millions of households.

Tory Party Chairman Nadhim Zahawi who was sacked over his tax affairs has been replace by Greg Hands who is the former Trade Minister.

Grant Shapps who is the former Transport Secretary who then became the Business Secretary now holds the position of the Energy Security and Net Zero Secretary.

Kem Badenoch will now lead the joint Department for Business and Trade and will no longer be the International Trade Secretary.

Michelle Donelan will now be the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology after being moved from the Culture Secretary, and Lucy Frazer joins the Cabinet as Culture Secretary.

The creation of four new departments is to ““ensure the right skills and teams are focused on the Prime Minister’s five promises,” Downing Street said.

The new Department for Energy Security and Net Zero will hold the position to secure the UK’s long-term energy supply and will also focus on “bringing down bills and halving inflation.”

The Department for Business and Trade will “support growth by backing British businesses at home and abroad, promoting investment and championing free trade.”

Department for Culture, Media and Sport’s new look will “recognise the importance of these industries to our economy and build on the UK’s position as a global leader in the creative arts.”
