Vladimir Putin has broken his very own three-day truce on Thursday morning as Russia has “intensified tactical aviation strikes using guided aerial bombs in the Sumy region.”

Ukraine’s air force reported on Thursday Russia launched air strikes on the northern region on Sumy, but no drones were reported overnight in Ukraine, which is a rare as there is daily and nightly strikes across Ukraine.

Russian state media reported that Putin’s unilateral ceasefire started at midnight on 7 May and will end at midnight on 11 May.

However, the first breach of Putin’s ceasefire started at 2.45am when Russia attacked the Sumy region using guided aerial bombs known as KABs.

Ukraine’s air force said in a statement, “Launches of guided aerial bombs (KABs) by enemy tactical aviation on the Sumy region.”

Verkhovna Rada deputy Oleksiy Honcharenko wrote on Telegram, “Russia declared a ceasefire and struck with KABs. Ukraine is officially silent but is also joining the ceasefire. The military received similar instructions.”

The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said, “Our proposal to stop the strikes, to cease fire for at least 30 days, remains in force – we are not withdrawing this proposal, which could give diplomacy a chance. But from Russia, the world sees no answer, no answer except for new strikes.”

He added, “This shows clearly, obviously for everyone, who is the source of the war. Russia must end its aggression, and it will have to do so. It’s only a matter of time.

“War is a loss for everyone, including the aggressor.”

The Institute for the Study of War said it is Putin’s aim to allow his troops to rest “and position for further attacks” under the guise of being open for peace.

The Khortytsia operational-strategic group, Viktor Trehubov said, “The enemy is less active, in some directions there were no combat clashes in the morning, but there were active combat clashes in a number of directions.

“Therefore, we are not discussing any kind of ceasefire.”

He added, “Therefore, to speak of a ceasefire that they (the Russians – ed.) announced – it is not noticeable on the front.”

He said that the city of Pokrovsk currently remains the most intense for fighting across the whole of the front line.

Trehubov added, “The Russians, in principle, do not cease attempts to improve their tactical position around the city or to cross the Pokrovsk-Kostiantynivka road in order to complicate the connection between these two cities, or to reach the road toward Pavlohrad, or somehow to assist the troops who are trying to reach the border of the Dnipropetrovsk region in the Novopavlivka direction, which they are failing to do. And, as they had planned by May 9, they will not succeed.”
