Vladimir Putin has threatened in the strongest terms that his forces will kill British troops should they be sent as a peacekeeping force in Ukraine.
Putin said that any NATO troops being stationed in Ukraine will be “legitimate targets” further warning let no one doubt that Russia will implement” their “destruction” in full.
Speaking in Vladivostok Putin warned, “If any [Western] troops appear there, especially now during military operations, we proceed from the fact that these will be legitimate targets for their destruction.
“And if decisions are reached that will lead to peace, to long-term peace, then I simply do not see any sense in their presence on the territory of Ukraine.
“That’s all. Because if these agreements are reached, let no one doubt that Russia will implement them in full.”
He added, “security guarantees must be for both Russia and Ukraine, and Russia will respect them.”
However, the Kremlin said they will continue with their war in Ukraine until Kyiv accepts all of Putin’s demands.
President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that security guarantees must be made immediately , which comes after the “coalition of the Willing” met on Thursday.
The Ukrainian President said, “The first step to ending any war is a ceasefire.
“If pressure increases, not decreases… if there are security guarantees and sanctions, this will naturally push him (Russian President Vladimir Putin) in the right direction.”
Zelensky has insisted that guarantees must be implemented “without waiting for the end of the fighting” he stressed that this includes military support and economic assurances.
