Moscow has launched a “massive” attack on Ukraine using artillery, missiles and drones hitting critical energy infrastructure in Kharkiv and also in Zaporizhzhia.

Ukrainian officials have warned there will be further “threats of massive Russian rocket attacks,” Ukraine’s presidential advisor Anton Gerashchenko said.

Oleh Syniehubov, governor of Kharkiv, issued an urgent update on Telegram, he said, “At 4am, the enemy launched rocket attacks on the city of Kharkiv and the region with S-300 missiles.

“Critical infrastructure facilities were targeted. Some areas of the city remain without electricity. Specialists are working to eliminate the consequences of the impact.”

Serhiy Popko, head of the Kyiv city military administration, told residents, “There is a big threat of missile attack – do not ignore the air alert sirens.”

There are fears that Vladimir Putin is to launch a massive Spring offensive in the coming days, but the Ukrainian Defense Intelligence does not believe Moscow has “sufficient resources” to “launch a large scale offensive.”

Andriy Cherniak, a representative of Ukrainian military intelligence, told the Kyiv Post, “While information is spreading about a large-scale Russian offensive planned for February 24, Ukrainian military intelligence reports that Russia has already launched a full-scale offensive on February 24 last year, which continues today.”

However Cherniak does believe that Putin is planning to intensify his efforts in the east of Ukraine over the coming weeks, adding, that now Moscow are “trying to find weaknesses in our defense.”

He said, “However, according to our information, the Russian command does not have sufficient resources for large-scale offensive operations.

“The main goal of the Russian troops remains to achieve at least some tactical success in eastern Ukraine.”

Cherniak added, “Russia is facing a shortage of high-precision weapons, and despite this, it will continue to use missile terror against the civilian population in Ukraine.

“The Russians have already used more than 80% of high-precision missiles. They are trying to resume their production, but so far they have not succeeded.”
