The Russian President has said Moscow “will not allow” Ukraine to make or get hold of nuclear weapons “no matter what.”

This comes as President Volodymyr Zelensky told officials at the EU summit on Thursday, “Either Ukraine gets nuclear weapons, or we must joint some alliance.”

German publication Bild reported that Kyiv is seriously considering to now replenish their nuclear weapons stocks after they gave them up.

Bild said that it could take Ukraine “a matter of weeks” to build their first nuclear weapon as they have all the resources and talent to do so.

Putin said that Ukraine getting nuclear weapons cannot be concealed and there will be an appropriate response.

Putin told reporters, “Russia will not allow this to happen, no matter what.”

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Ukraine developing nuclear weapons quickly is insane.

“These are madmen and, anyway, nothing will ever come of this. As far as I know, he (Zelensky) has already backpedalled.

“He might have woken up on the right side of the bed this time,” Lavrov told a news conference.

Tass reported that Lavrov added, “You could spend an eternity analysing what this man and his team say, but we realise that such attempts are in vain, unnecessary, and even counterproductive.”

The Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, has claimed that Ukraine is working on building a dirty bomb.

Tass reported, Medvedev wrote on Telegram, “It [the Kiev regime] has everything necessary for that: resources, technology and specialists.”

President Zelensky told the EU summit on Thursday, “What is the solution? Either Ukraine gets nuclear weapons, or we must joint some alliance. We do not know any viable alliances except NATO today.

“Who gave up their nuclear weapons? Was it everyone? No, only Ukraine did. Who’s fighting today? Ukraine.”

He added, “If Ukraine does not strengthen now, Russia will strengthen next year. And we must speak honestly – Ukrainians and all our partners – if we do not strengthen now, Putin will have time to strengthen next year so that he will throw diplomacy aside forever.

“Russia must lose the war against Ukraine. And this is not a ‘freeze.’ We must implement the Victory Plan to force Russia to be at the Peace Summit and be ready to end the war.”
