Reform at highest ever vote share as they leapfrog Lib Dems into third

Reform UK has recorded its highest ever vote share in a Savanta poll, overtaking the Liberal Democrats into third place, according to the latest voting intention poll from Savanta for the Daily Telegraph

The poll, conducted over last weekend (15-17 March) sees Reform UK on 11% of the vote, a two point increase, while the Liberal Democrats have dropped two points to 9%.

This is Reform UK’s highest ever vote share in a Savanta poll since January 2021, when the Electoral Commission approved their new name. It is also the first time since July 2019 that another party has overtaken the Liberal Democrats into third place.

Labour (44%) continue to hold a dominant 18 point lead over the Conservatives, who are on 26%.

Chris Hopkins, Political Research Director at Savanta said, “After yet another bad week for the Prime Minister, the fact that this latest polling shows that things haven’t gotten any worse for the Conservative Party is probably the best he could have hoped for.

“Still, Savanta’s Labour leads have been fairly consistently in the high teens now for several weeks, and they all point to a significant Labour majority if replicated at a general election.”

“The Reform UK vote share here is noteworthy, and the party will continue to trouble Conservative strategists.

Reform UK remains something of an enigma to pollsters and commentators alike, but with a real set of local elections coming in May, many eyes will be on Richard Tice’s party to see if some electoral evidence can back up their continued strong opinion polling performance.”
