Andrew O’Neil has stunned Peterborough, winning the city council by-election for Reform UK — edging out the Green Party by just 36 votes.
This is the first ever seat for Nigel Farage’s party on the council, sending shockwaves through local politics.
The by-election followed the death of Labour councillor Nick Thulbourn in December. Labour will now run the council as a minority administration, with no overall control.
Vote Count Reveals the Shift

Reform UK: 565

Labour: 323

O’Neil fought on community safety and anti-social behaviour, calling his campaign “common sense politics.”
Political expert Rob Ford warns Reform UK could win the next Gorton & Denton by-election, as Labour struggles to remain a front runner.
“This is another major blow for Sir Keir Starmer,” Ford said.
“If Labour does badly in the local elections, it could be the end for the Prime Minister.”
Reform UK’s shock win signals growing voter anger and a new era of volatility in British politics. The Labour stronghold is cracking — and Farage’s party is ready to pounce.
