British Intelligence has said that over the past week there has been some of the most intense fighting seen on the ground in three areas.

Intense fighting has been witnessed in the Kupiansk axis, in Luhansk region; around Avdiivka in Donetsk region.

On the left bank of the Dnipro River Ukrainian forces have established bridgeheads and Marines have been conducting “fire strikes” and “operations to destroy” Russian troops.

Ukrainian defence forces have said that Russia has lost 3,500 troops and 1,200 were killed in fierce fighting around the river.

Ukrainian Defence Ministry said on social media, “The Defense Forces of Ukraine carried out a series of successful actions on the eastern bank of the Dnipro River in the direction of Kherson.”

The British Ministry of Defense said, citing intelligence data, “Neither side has achieved substantial progress in any of these areas.

“Russia continues to suffer particularly heavy casualties around Avdiivka.”

Citing eyewitness reports, the British MoD said that small uncrewed aerial vehicles and artillery, especially cluster rounds are playing a major role in disrupting the attacks of both sides of the Dnipro River.

“As colder winter weather sets in earnest in eastern Ukraine, there are few immediate prospects of major changes in the frontline,” the intelligence agency added.

The MoD also said that there are a “few immediate prospects of a major frontline change” as the challenging winter conditions are setting in.
