Vladimir Putin has said Russia’s changes to their nuclear doctrine is to send the West a warning to stop them from supporting Ukraine attacking the Russian Federation.

The Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters Putin’s announcement is a “warning” for those countries helping Ukraine.

Peskov said this is a “warning signal to those countries about the consequences in case of their involvement in an attack on our country with various assets, not necessarily nuclear ones.”

This is quite a serious change in the Kremlin as this is exactly what Ukraine is currently doing on the Russian Federation by using drones, rockets and their own newly built missile.

If Ukraine continues to attack the Russian Federation in the same fashion this could then mean Putin’s new ‘red lines’ has been crossed and therefore a tactical nuclear weapon could be used on Kyiv, including a nuclear power such as the UK and the US who are the largest backers for President Zelensky.

Any nuclear country helping Ukraine to attack Russia with long-range weapons will lower the threshold for the use nuclear attack from the Kremlin.

Putin said the newly modified document sets out Russia’s threshold for a nuclear strike and this will be done in the even of a conventional assault that causes a “critical threat to our sovereignty,” leaving things somewhat vague.

Peskov was asked if Putin’s revision of the document is a message to the West, he said, “This should be viewed as a certain message.

He added, “This is a message that warns these countries of the consequences should they participate in an attack on our country by various means, not necessarily nuclear.”

Russian MP Sergey Mironov said that Putin’s new provisions “will put an end to proxy wars and make the world safer.”

Speaking to LondonLovesBusiness.com on Friday, Mironov said, “As I said days ago, the new nuclear doctrine will deprive the United States of the opportunity to wage war against Russia with someone else’s hands, in this case with the hands of Ukrainians. The consequences are inevitable.

“Will the United States escalate further? I don’t think so – the risks are too high. Will Russia? Definitely, if its sovereignty is at stake. This concept is quite broad, and I would not advise Americans to actually check its interpretation.

“With the new doctrine, nuclear weapons will perform the same role that they originally performed – the role of deterring foreign aggression in all its manifestations. It is precisely because of the presence of such weapons in the United States and the Soviet Union that the Cold War did not turn into a hot one.

“Nowadays, using the example of Ukraine, the whole world sees what a proxy war looks like that the United States is waging.

“The President of Russia puts a reliable barrier to this dangerous practice. I am sure that other nuclear powers will follow his example. Therefore, it will eventually make the world a safer place.”
