Labour have a 21pt voting intention lead over the Conservative Party, according to the latest poll from Savanta.

The poll, conducted last weekend (27-29 January), shows Labour on 47% of the vote and the Conservatives on 26%, down 3 points from the previous week.

This poll presents one of the largest leads Labour have had in a Savanta poll since Rishi Sunak became Prime Minister, matching other three other polls with 21pt leads, and narrowly smaller than the 22pt lead Savanta recorded in early November.

This voting intention comes alongside other Savanta polling this week showing over half (54%) of UK adults saying that Sunak has been a bad Prime Minister in his first 100 days, with a similar proportion (56%) saying he is incompetent.

Only one in six (18%) say Sunak has made the economy better since being in No.10, compared to the 48% who say he has made it worse.

Chris Hopkins, Political Research Director at Savanta said, “Following a bit of a honeymoon period throughout December, Labour have seemingly restored their voting intention lead to more than 20 points, a result that if replicated at a General election would produce a large Labour majority.”

“Sunak’s been unable to differentiate himself from leaders past in his first 100 days in office, but revised economic projections from the Bank of England could provide Sunak with some evidence that his cautious style of government will pay dividends.

“Then, it will be up to voters to see whether they begin to credit Sunak with an increased perception of confidence that could lead to an electoral about-turn.”
