Savills team in Cambridge

Savills has unveiled plans to relocate its Cambridge office, splitting its operations across three new city premises.

From this spring, the company will move 170 staff from Unex House on Hills Road to a trio of locations across Cambridge.

Key teams including development, planning, rural, commercial agency and project management will relocate to Botanic House at 98–100 Hills Road, occupying the entire second floor of one of the city’s landmark office buildings.

Residential sales and lettings staff will remain close to their current base, opening a satellite office at 1 Brookgate, opposite Unex House and close to Cambridge railway station.

Meanwhile, Savills’ finance and accounts teams will move to the recently refurbished Generator building on Newmarket Road.

Savills has operated in Cambridge since 1978 and has grown into a well-established multidisciplinary business, offering residential, commercial and rural property services alongside development and planning consultancy.

Leases for the three new buildings have been signed for 10 years.

“We have enjoyed an incredible 22 years at Unex House and the building has served us incredibly well,” said Tom Fraser, head of office at Savills. “However, we had an opportunity not only to move into one of the city’s most prominent buildings, but to establish new satellite offices that are perfectly aligned to our business – providing a spacious, flexible and contemporary home for the benefit of our staff and clients alike.

“It’s a very exciting new chapter for Savills in Cambridge and we’re delighted to have committed our long-term future to the city,” he continued. “We now employ 170 people and this latest move will help us to fulfil our plans for future growth while maintaining our high standards of service.”

“Our workplace is a reflection of our culture, ambition, and the calibre of talent we aim to attract and retain and we look forward to welcoming friends and clients old and new,” Fraser added.

Ed Meyer, head of residential sales at Savills Cambridge, commented: “This move further reinforces our commitment to Cambridge and the wider eastern region – ensuring we are well placed to continue to provide the best possible service for our clients.

“Despite a more challenging market we secured some strong results last year and we are excited about the opportunities ahead. This undoubtedly comes down to the strength of our team and we will continue to invest as we look to grow our business and increase market share in key areas.”
