‘Bromance’ Keir Starmer and Volodymyr Zelensky highlighted their ‘respect’ for one another’ during their UK meeting, a body language expert revealed.
Speaking to security-focused platform Techopedia, body language expert Darren Stanton said a usually ‘stoic’ Keir Starmer let his guard down to show he isn’t willing to play mind games with Ukraine.
Following the meeting, Starmer said his support for Ukraine is ‘unwavering’ after Zelensky’s heated exchange with Donald Trump.
The Ukrainian President is calling for security guarantees to end the Russian invasion as Zelensky calls for the US to stand ‘more firmly on our side’ as Trump told him to make a deal with Russia ‘or we are out’.
Darren added that the pair were ‘tactile’ and mirrored each other, highlighting their respect and rapport for one another as world leaders.
Speaking to security-focused platform Techopedia, body language expert Darren Stanton said, “In stark contrast to Donald Trump and other world leaders, Keir Starmer has an incredible amount of respect for Volodymyr Zelensky and it’s reciprocated. In the photos from their meetings this weekend, both men are symmetrical, they are both very tactile.
“When Zelensky turned up, Starmer walked to him to give him a handshake and a kind of ‘bromance’ hug. Starmer is not usually an emotional person, he is usually quite stoic, so it’s interesting to see this change in him and let his guard down. In contrast to Trump, there are no mind games, no bone-crushing handshakes. Their body language is mirrored, meaning there’s a mutual trust and respect for one another, and both have a deep rapport. A much more positive meeting than with Trump and shows Starmer has a very good, authentic relationship with Zelensky.”
