The Prime Minister has said on Wednesday that the BBC needs to “get their house in order” as the US President is preparing for court.
Sir Keir Starmer said that Donald Trump has an “obligation” to launch his legal bid against the corporation over what the US President said was “Fake News.”
Starmer said that he believed in a “strong independent” BBC and said that they must “uphold the highest standards.”
Trump said that the corporation “defrauded the public” over their editing of his speech in the Panorama programme, this made the US President look like he was urging people to attack the US Capitol on 6 January 2021.

Trump’s Lawyer Alejandro Brito has written to the BBC demanding the “false, defamatory, disparaging and inflammatory statements” to be immediately retracted.
The letter reads, if the BBC “does not comply,” then President Trump will be “left with no alternative but to enforce his legal and equitable rights, all of which are expressly reserved and are not waived, including by filing legal action for no less than 1,000,000,000 dollars in damages”.
