Vietnamese EV brand VinFast has been struggling to find a foothold in the US market, but that hasn’t throttled the company’s world-beating, global ambitions. To that end, the company has unveiled not one, but two new flagship ultra-luxury models meant to take on the very best ultra-luxe brands in the world.
This week, VinFast announced a strategic restructuring of its electric vehicle lineup into three distinct automotive brands. The company’s new flagship make, Lac Hong, debuts with two ultra-luxury models: the 800S and 900S – and VinFast seemd pretty proud of them:
Inspired by Vietnam’s cultural heritage and embodying the courage, intellect and stature of the nation, the new models deliver design and craftsmanship on par with the world’s most prestigious ultra-luxury vehicles. The Lac Hong 800S [SUV] projects a bold, powerful and refined aesthetic, while the Lac Hong 900S [sedan] reflects timeless, classical values expressed through enduring elegance.
Both new Lac Hong vehicles will reportedly feature a three motor, all-wheel-drive electric powertrain offering a combined 460 kW (~615 hp). All that power gets put channeled to the ground through a VinFast-first “full active suspension system,” which should be able to keep the big vehicles steady, compensating for any excess body roll and brake dive for an incredibly smooth ride.
Inside the cabin, VinFast says the new Lac Hong 800S and 900S models will be meticulously appointed with top-tier materials including Nappa leather, rare woods, and “refined” (their words) gold-plated trim accents.
The Lac Hong 900S sedan, shown below, is likely to be a lower-volume affair, featuring a large, upright grille with vertical slats, a proper Rolls-Royce-style winged hood ornament. Inside, rear passengers will be able to stretch out and watch Netflix (apparently), while rolling along in serene electric silence and ensconced in zero-gravity executive seating.
Automatic electric doors, dual wireless phone chargers in the center console, and other high end features round out the Lac Hong features list.

As nice as the 900S seems, this is 2026 and the SUV body style of the 800S is almost sure to make it the volume leader of the pair.
The official VinFast press release seems to indicate that the Lac Hong 800S will ride on the same platform as the 900S sedan, meaning it will likely get the same laundry list of features though without, apparently, the theater-style dividing panel between front and rear passengers shown in 900S images (above).

While details like battery capacity, charging speed, and pricing haven’t yet been released, VinFast claims that both new vehicles will go on sale sometime in 2027 – and, given the company’s continued commitment to global distribution and rapid rollout of new models, there’s no reason to believe they won’t deliver on that promise.
Whether or not they’ll turn out to be any good, however, remains to be seen.
