Lady Annabel Goldsmith, who had Mayfair nightclub named after her, dies aged 91

The Prime Minister has sacked Suella Braverman as the Home Secretary after she criticised the way the pro-Palestinian protests were being policed in an unauthorised article.

Rish Sunak is undertaking a Cabinet reshuffle in an attempt to strengthen his team within the government “to deliver long-term decisions for a brighter future,” which comes as Sunak is trying to unite the party behind him ahead of the general election.

A Downing Street source said that Sunak “asked Suella Braverman to leave Government and she has accepted.”

Braverman said, “It has been the greatest privilege of my life to serve as home secretary.”

Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey said, “Suella Braverman was never fit to be Home Secretary. Rishi Sunak knew this and he still appointed her.

“It was the Prime Minister’s sheer cowardice that kept her in the job even for this long. We are witnessing a broken party and a broken Government, both of which are breaking this country.”

Moments before the Prime Minister sacked Braverman he told LBC Radio that they have been “very clear she has his confidence and, in that sense, one would imagine that she will continue.”
