The Prime Minister is coming under fire for not condemning Lee Anderson’s comments including the former Home Secretary’s remarks.

Suella Braverman has claimed that she was sacked by the Prime Minister for saying that “the Islamists, the extremists and the antisemites are in charge now.”

Rishi Sunak said that Braverman’s article in the Daily Telegraph “were not about an individual in particular,” Anderson’s was not.

The Prime Minister added, “There is a broader point that some of the scenes that we have been witnessing on our streets in recent times are unacceptable.

“And we’re now having a situation where, whether it’s private MPs’ meetings, council meetings, or indeed what happened in parliament last week, where the normal democratic processes that we are used to in this country are being impacted, threatened, disrupted aggressively and in an intimidating fashion.

“I don’t think that’s right. I don’t think anyone thinks that that’s right. And I think it’s important that we call out that kind of behaviour as wrong and that we do everything we can to stamp it out.”

Braverman said that Sunak sacked her from her position as the Home Secretary for speaking out against the “appeasement of Islamists.”

Braverman insists that she will do it again as the UK is drifting into a “ghettoised society where free expression and British values are diluted.”

Writing in the Daily Telegraph on Friday Braverman said, “They have hijacked a by-election in a deprived town in northern England.

“We see their influence in our judiciary, our legal profession and our universities. And then they came for Parliament.”

She made a reference to clashes in Parliament which saw the Speaker of the House Sir Lindsay Hoyle having to apologise after an opposition motion for a ceasefire in Gaza was unable to be voted on.

“But this isn’t just about my colleagues in Parliament. Our values and freedoms are under attack in all walks of life…It’s not Islamophobic to challenge Islamist fanatics; it’s a civic duty.

“I may have been sacked because I spoke out against the appeasement of Islamists, but I would do it again because we need to wake up to what we are sleepwalking into: a ghettoised society where free expression and British values are diluted. Where Sharia law, the Islamist mob and anti-Semites take over communities.

“We need to overcome the fear of being labelled Islamophobic and speak truthfully.”
