Mercedes revealed the new GLB, now a fully electric SUV, with more space, luxury, and plenty of other upgrades.

Meet the new Mercedes GLB electric SUV

The new GLB might look the same as its predecessor, but it’s launching with an all-electric powertrain for the first time.

Initially, the new Mercedes GLB will be available in two variants: the GLB 250+ with EQ Technology and GLB 350 4MATIC with EQ Technology. A “high-tech” hybrid variant will launch shortly after.

With up to 631 km (392 miles) of WLTP driving range, the GLB 250+ offers “a range that is unrivalled in its class.” The GLB 350 4MATIC offers a sporty, higher-performance, all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant.

The base rear-wheel-drive (RWD) 250+ version has 268 hp and 247 lb-ft of torque, good for a 0 to 60 mph time in 7.3 secs. If you’re looking for a little more oomph, the AWD 350 4MATIC delivers 349 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque for a 0 to 60 mph sprint in 5.4 secs.

Both are powered by a new 85 kWh lithium-ion battery, providing up to 631 km (392 miles) of WLTP driving range. That’s for the 250+ trim. The AWD version is rated at up to 614 km (381 miles) under WLTP.

From Cologne to Berlin, Mercedes said there are several cities in Europe you can get to within 600 km. Even in the US, you can drive from Denver to Salt Lake and from Los Angeles to Las Vegas.

On the EPA scale, the new Mercedes GLB EV is expected to offer up to around 330 miles of driving range. The AWD version will be closer to around 320 miles.

With DC fast charging of up to 320 kW (at 800V stations), Mercedes said the new electric GLB can add 260 km (161 miles) WLTP range in just 10 minutes.

Although it shares a similar boxy design with its predecessor, the electric GLB features Mercedes’ massive new grille.

The grille includes 94 individually animated LED chrome-effect stars and an illuminated Mercedes-Benz star up front. The new grille design, which Mercedes said “redefines” the brand’s face, will be exclusive to the electric version. The hybrid variant will have a classic grille design.

A refined interior with massive digital screens

Compared to the outgoing model, the new GLB offers noticeably more headroom in the first and second rows. Mercedes credits the new roofline design and standard panoramic roof for the added space. Second row passengers also get a bit more legroom.

According to Mercedes, the new electric GLB can fit up to four child seats in the second and third rows. It will be available as a five or seven-seater.

The optional new floating MBUX Superscreen is the highlight of the interior, with over 38″ of total screen space spanning the entire dash. The setup includes a 10.25″ driver display, a 14″ passenger screen, and a 14″ central touchscreen.

Mercedes upgraded the steering wheel design to be more ergonomic and easier to use. It also brought back the rocker switch for cruise control and a volume rocker.

The new GLB EV is powered by the brand’s new in-house operating system (MB.OS), enabling regular OTA updates, advanced driver-assist systems, and more.

The fourth-gen MBUX is the first in-car infotainment system to use AI from both Microsoft and Google, offering personalized virtual assistants, Google Maps, and other helpful features.

For those in the US, Mercedes will reveal prices and EPA range closer to launch. Given that the new 2026 CLA EV starts at $47,250, the electric GLB is expected to be priced a bit higher.
