The war in Ukraine has revealed flaws in modern day warfare and that within the next two years the British Armed Forces could be at war.

A senior British Army officer has warned that soldiers have to be “more ferocious” in war if we are to win one of the world’s largest armies.

Colonel Richard Kemp, a former commander of British troops in Afghanistan said that the British Army has to be ready to fight “with great lethality at all times.”

Kemo said, “It’s absolutely right the British Army needs to be ready to fight, but not just from 2026. The Army should be ready to fight ferociously and with great lethality at all times.

“That is their purpose and that is what we fund them to do.

“The Ukrainian war has reminded us that mass prevails above all else. Since the war began we have been continuing to cut our Army.

“It is now at an unacceptably low level in terms of men and women, tanks, guns and ammunition.

“If the Government is serious about being able to defend the country it needs to invest more to rebuild the Army and support it with the most effective modern technology.”

Major General Colin Weir who is one of the UK’s most senior officers and a decorated war hero has warned that within the next two years Britain could be at war and a lot of work is needed to be done so that we are “battle ready.”

The Mail reported that Maj Gen Weir, said, “Countless episodes from history, and the Russo-Ukraine war of today, point to the reality that exquisite weaponry, elite formations and regular forces are expended first and quickly.”

In an article for the British Army Review, entitled “No One Said It Would Be Easy… How We Will Fight In 2026,” Maj Gen Weir wrote his concerns.

He said the British Army are currently “absorbing the lessons from Ukraine,” in an attempt to “reinforce our strengths.”

He warned, the future war will be “confused, terrifying, exhausting, debilitating, damaging to mind, body and spirit and demanding on supply chains.”

He added, “The timeless truths of the realities of war – in the deep, close or rear – cannot be whiteboarded or cybered away.”

Last month the former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev warned there will be “direct conflict with NATO.”

Medvedev, the deputy chairman of the Security Council of Russia cited the latest military aid package from the US and NATO.

Medvedev said in response said, “It seems that Russia is being left with less and less choice other than a direct conflict with NATO on the ground.”

He then compared NATO to Adolf Hitler’s Nazi regime, “albeit larger.”

Medvedev said, “We are ready, although the result will be achieved at [a] much greater cost to humanity than in 1945,” which was when the Second World War ended after Japan was bombed with two nuclear weapons.
