A Russian MP has warned the West and NATO against sending Ukraine weapons as such action will lead to Moscow making an argument of using weapons of mass destruction.

Vyacheslav Volodin who is the speaker of the Duma of Russia’s lower house of parliament warned that the US and NATO’s support in Ukraine will lead to a “terrible war.”

Volodin who is a close ally of Vladimir Putin warned that if the US  and NATO send weapons which cae be used to strike civilian cities or even they attempt to seize “our territories” this will lead to a “global catastrophe.”

Volodin wrote on Telegram, “If Washington and NATO countries supply weapons that will be used to strike civilian cities and attempt to seize our territories, as they threaten, this will lead to retaliatory measures using more powerful weapons.

“Arguments that the nuclear powers have not previously used weapons of mass destruction in local conflicts are untenable.”

He added, that the US and NATO do “not face a situation where there was a threat to the security of their citizens and the territorial integrity of the country.”

Moscow are fearing that an attack from Ukraine and they are ramping up their air defence missile systems across the capital.

Air defence missile systems have been installed near to Putin’s official residence and on the roof of the Ministry of Defence building in Moscow.

Moscow fears an attack is likely and believe that Ukraine drones or cruise missiles could be used in the capital and Pantsir-S1 missile defence systems have appeared on roofs across the capital.

There has been multiple strikes deep inside Russia on key facilities, but it is unlikely Kyiv would attack a city of civilians.

Putin’s spokesman said on Friday, “They are responsible for ensuring the security of the country in general and the capital in particular.”

Retired Colonel Viktor Litovkin, told RTVI, “Good air defence systems have been placed on the roofs of Moscow’s largest buildings to protect against attacks by cruise missiles, or Ukrainian drones.

“During the special military operation, you need to protect yourself, because Ukraine has the opportunity to strike over long distances.”

He added, “They have been redesigned, modernised.

“The Americans have helped create an on-board software system that allows the drones to go to specific targets.

“They helped supply these drones with a combat charge – so no precaution is unnecessary.”
