U.S. service members have tragically been killed in action, and five others have sustained serious injuries during military operations against Iran, as confirmed by the U.S. Central Command.
This development marks the first official acknowledgement of American casualties in the ongoing conflict, which has escalated under the military campaign known as Operation Epic Fury, involving targeted strikes and defensive actions.
In addition to those seriously wounded, several other personnel have experienced minor shrapnel injuries and concussions.

The situation has intensified further with reports of the death of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the former president of Iran, due to U.S. and Israeli airstrikes targeting Tehran. In response, Iran has launched a series of retaliatory strikes. Over the weekend, an oil tanker was reportedly struck off the coast of Oman, and a tragic incident occurred in Abu Dhabi, where a person lost their life following the interception of a drone over the airport.
In a statement released on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), Central Command provided the following update: “Three U.S. service members have been killed in action, and five are seriously wounded as part of Operation Epic Fury.
“Several others are being treated for minor shrapnel injuries and concussions and are in the process of returning to duty.”
They emphasised that major combat operations are still ongoing and that the situation remains dynamic and fluid.
Out of respect for the families of the fallen service members, the military has decided to withhold additional details—including the identities of the deceased—until 24 hours after the next of kin have been notified, to allow them the necessary time to process the tragic news.
In a related development, Iran has claimed responsibility for a missile attack on the USS Abraham Lincoln, an esteemed aircraft carrier in the U.S. Navy fleet, asserting that it was targeted with four ballistic missiles.
“However, the U.S. government has officially refuted this claim, describing it as inaccurate. In its own military actions, the U.S. stated that it successfully engaged an Iranian Jamaran-class corvette, which has now reportedly sunk to the bottom of the Gulf of Oman near the Chah Bahar pier.
The U.S. military has issued a stern message, reiterating the President’s call for members of Iran’s armed forces, including the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and police, to “lay down their weapons” and abandon any plans for further aggressive actions.
The unfolding conflict highlights the ongoing tensions in the region and underscores the complex geopolitical landscape as military operations continue.
