‘Tommy’s drinking was traumatising’: all the revelations from Molly-Mae’s new show

If you desperately need to know exactly what kind of kissing did or did not go down between Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury on New Years Eve, well, you’ll have to wait. The first three episodes of Molly-Mae: Behind It All (airing now on Prime Video) mostly deals with the fall-out from their shock split.

Schrödinger’s snog won’t be covered until the final trio of episodes airs in the spring. But there were plenty of revelations in the first half of the series to keep you going.

Here’s everything we learned.

Molly-Mae wants to get back with ‘soulmate’ Tommy

The influencer impresario is clear that she doesn’t consider her relationship over, despite ending their engagement. “I’ve been holding on to the hope that as soulmates we will always come back together,” she says in the documentary. “All I want is to be with him.”

Despite their issues, co-parenting their daughter Bambi has kept her close with her ex, and Molly-Mae hopes that they will have another baby together eventually.

“All I want in this life is to be with him,” Molly-Mae tells her sister Zoe in a heartbreaking heart-to-heart. “To have another baby with him, and grow old as a family, and to live in a nice house together, and have a nice life together.”

She still doesn’t know everything that happened

“I still don’t know the full picture,” Molly-Mae says of her relationship woes with Fury.

Her ex only appears in the documentary on screen, usually while facetiming her to speak to their daughter. Molly-Mae is cagey about the reasons, refusing to reveal the details of what exactly lead them to split. But she does hope that he will do the necessary work to win back her trust.

“I’m not breaking up with him because I don’t love him any more,” she insists. “I’m breaking up with him because he hasn’t left me a single other choice.”

Cheating didn’t cause their break-up

“It’s drinking isn’t it,” Molly-Mae tells her mum. Fury has already revealed how his problematic relationship with alcohol following a boxing injury destroyed his relationship. Molly-Mae reveals she would beg him not to drink at events such as her sister’s wedding, and found the entire situation with Fury’s drinking “traumatising”.

The couple initially bonded on their first Love Island date over the fact that, then, neither of them were big drinkers. In the documentary, like in her 2022 memoir, Molly-Mae explains she finds being around drunk people difficult because when she was 14 her mother developed an issue with alcohol.

“I never wanted to be with someone who drank because my mum had a period in her life where she struggled,” Molly-Mae says in Behind It All. “Her marriage of 25 years ended and she turned to drink more than she should have. I saw my mum in some states.”

Molly-Mae also implied that Fury hadn’t adjusted to the responsibilities of being a father. “He wanted to have a family life, and also have the life of a 25-year-old boy with no responsibilities,” she said.

But Molly-Mae did suspect him of cheating before their engagement

Fury proposed to Molly-Mae by pretending they were going on a brand trip and surprising her with a romantic engagement set-up (all filmed, of course). But because he became so secretive around his phone in the run-up to the proposal, Molly-Mae became suspicious.

“I was literally looking out the window like I was in a sad music video thinking that he had pictures of another woman on his phone,” she remembers.

Her perfect wedding? Harry Potter and snacks

Molly-Mae is still wedding planning, but her ideal nuptials look very different from the kind you might find on the pages of a celebrity magazine. Instead, she’s hoping for something much more chill.

“If I was planning my perfect wedding now, it would be a vicar comes to my house while Harry Potter is on in the background,” she says. “Some snacks on the table and the vicar just marries us while we’re sat on the sofa in our pyjamas, then get a bath and an early night.”

Most people wouldn’t want their grandma watching while they went on Love Island, a show dedicated to wearing tiny bikinis and getting off with people. But Molly-Mae’s Nana positively enjoyed watching her granddaughter on the telly.

“I remember Love Island! All that sexy business,” Molly-Mae’s Nana says with glee. For her part, Molly insists that she didn’t do anything X-rated with her ex on the show.

Molly-Mae’s McDonald’s order is somewhat controversial

Molly-Mae’s go-to order at the drive-thru? A large chicken Big Mac Meal, six chicken nuggets, a mozzarella dipper share box, and a trio of sauces: ketchup, BBQ and curry. The curry sauce option was divisive in The London Standard office, although the Molly-Mae pro-chip agenda is one we can all get behind.

“I love food. I live to eat,” says Molly-Mae. “So many people around me are like ‘I’ll just get the salad’ and I’m like, that could never be me. If it’s salad with chips then I’m on board.”

She doesn’t always do her laundry

While showing the camera crew around her luxurious walk-in wardrobe, Molly-Mae discovers a silk scarf covered in a mysterious brown stain. The culprit? A manky avocado skin she fell over on.

“Deep down I’m just one scuzzy girl,” she jokes.

The truth behind THAT bobbly £140 blazer

A lot (like, a lot) of the documentary is focused on the launch of Molly-Mae’s fashion brand, Maebe. The first collection sold out in just 24 minutes, but customers were horrified to find that the £140 grey blazer was made of a fabric that immediately pilled into a fuzzy mess.

Molly-Mae is, to her credit, mortified and immediately attempts to get to the bottom of it. While the sample blazer she was sent – and wore for almost a year – was fine, the factory replaced the fabric with something different without her sign-off. That’s one mystery solved, at least.
