ottenham have been handed a significant boost ahead of Saturday’s meeting with Bournemouth, with Ange Postecoglou revealing James Maddison should be available to play.
New signing Maddison has made an excellent start to life at Spurs but was filmed on crutches while wearing a protective boot in the aftermath of last weekend’s 2-0 win over Manchester United.
It had been feared that the ankle injury might keep him out until next month, but Postecoglou was positive about the England international’s chances of appearing at Bournemouth on Saturday.
“Madders trained today unrestricted”, the Aussie said. “We’ll see how he holds up, but at the moment he will be available.
“I think it was the incident when [Cristian] Romero got brought down. He had a shot and it was a block-tackle. His ankle was a bit sore after that, but the medical team looked after him.”
Postecoglou added: “There was no real push to have him available. It was down to him. People would have seen him in a moon boot, but it was more precautionary. He has felt good and probably could have trained yesterday.”
Meanwhile, Rodrigo Bentancur, Bryan Gil and Ryan Sessegnon are still out with long-term injuries. The same is true of goalkeeper Alfie Whiteman, who had surgery on an ankle injury in pre-season.
