Toyota is gearing up to launch the new 2026 C-HR any day now. The electric SUV will deliver nearly 300 miles of range, a built-in NACS charging port, and it’s expected to start at under $35,000. Not only is it arriving as Toyota’s cheapest electric SUV, but it will also be among the most affordable EVs on the market.

The 2026 C-HR is Toyota’s most affordable electric SUV

The C-HR is making a comeback this year in all-electric form. Remember the gas-powered C-HR? Toyota discontinued it in 2022, replacing it with the more efficient Corolla Cross Hybrid.

Starting at under $25,000, the crossover SUV was promoted as an affordable, everyday driver. The compact SUV will return in early 2026, powered by an all-electric powertrain.

After unveiling the C-HR+ in Europe last March as part of its new electric SUV lineup, the company confirmed it will also launch in the US. The only difference between the two is that the US-spec version drops the “+” in its name.

The new EV is bringing a fresh new look with Toyota’s new “hammerhead front end,” showcased on the latest Corolla and Crown models.

Measuring 177.9″ in length, 72.6″ in width, and 63.8″ in height, the 2026 C-HR is about the same size as the Kia Niro EV and Volvo EX30. It’s also 6.7″ shorter than the bZ, Toyota’s current electric SUV sold in the US.

The electric SUV will draw power from a 74.7 kWh battery, which Toyota said will deliver up to 290 miles of driving range.

Like the updated 2026 bZ, the C-HR features a native NACS charge port, unlocking access to Tesla Superchargers across North America. With up to 150 kW DC fast charging, the C-HR can charge from 10% to 80% in roughly 30 minutes.

Interestingly, the electric crossover SUV will feature standard all-wheel drive (AWD) with dual electric motors, delivering a combined 338 horsepower and a 0 to 60 mph sprint time of around 5 seconds.

The interior is an upgrade from the Toyota vehicles we’re accustomed to, with a new 14″ Toyota Audio Multimedia infotainment system, which includes standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Toyota added other standard features, such as a power liftgate, roof rails, rain-sensing wipers, and heated front seats/ steering wheel.

The 226 Toyota C-HR will be aailable in two trims: SE and XSE. Upgrading to the more premium XSE gains 20″ gun metal finished wheels, SofTex and synthetic suede-trimmed seats, a Digital Rearview Mirror, and a Panoramic View Monitor.

Toyota is set to officially launch the new C-HR in early 2026, with models expected to begin arriving at US dealerships as early as March. It will be available in electric (EV), hybrid, plug-in hybrid (PHEV)withand Fuel Cell powertrain options.

Although the compfuel cell powertrainsprices, given that the 2026 bZ starts at just $34,900, and the C-HR is slotted below it in Toyota’s lineup, prices could start as low as $30,000. If so, it would be among the most affordable EVs in the US alongside the new Chevy Bolt and Nissan LEAF.

With the new C-HR and bZ Woodland arriving soon, Toyota is sweetening the deal on 2026 bZ models with leases starting under $300 a month. You can use our link to find available Toyota bZ models by you.
