Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham all remain in the market for major transfers as the new Premier League season draws ever near. Arsenal have now agreed personal terms with David Raya, as talks with Brentford over the goalkeeper continue, while interest in Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Mohammed Kudus remains.
Chelsea are plotting a double Brighton raid for Moises Caicedo and Robert Sanchez, and a fresh round of talks over signing both players are now underway. Lesley Ugochukwu has joined and Axel Disasi could be confirmed today, while Leeds’ Tyler Adams is a new name on the list along with Liverpool target Romeo Lavia. Interest in Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise is also ongoing.
Manchester United are soon to confirm the £72million arrival of Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta, with the striker arriving after Harry Kane was not interested in a move to Old Trafford. Kane, who is being tracked by Bayern Munich, is prepared to discuss a new contract at Tottenham should he not leave the club before the end of next week, with Spurs also reportedly on the verge of signing Wolfsburg defender Micky van de Ven. Tottenham on verge of Micky van de Ven deal
Micky van de Ven looks to be heading to Tottenham.
The Wolfsburg centre-back had been identified as a defensive target alongside the likes of Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba and Tosin Adarabioyo of Fulham as Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou looks to strengthen at the back this summer.
It’s been rather quiet on that front since reports from weeks ago suggesting that an agreement over Van de Ven was close.
However, Fabrizio Romano now reports that Tottenham are on the verge of a deal for the Dutch Under-21 international, with personal terms 100 per cent agreed.
Colwill signs new Chelsea deal after Pochettino assurances
Levi Colwill is definitely staying at Chelsea, having officially now signed a new long-term contract at the club.
The centre-back, 20, has put pen to paper on a fresh and improved six-year deal in west London that runs until the summer of 2029 and includes the option for a further 12 months beyond that.
Wednesday’s announcement definitively ends any remaining uncertainty over Colwill’s Chelsea future, with Brighton having pursued a permanent deal for the defender this summer after he shone during a season-long loan at the Amex Stadium last season.
Brighton saw two bids totalling up to £40million rejected for the England Under-21 international, a key part of the Young Lions side who won the European Championship title this summer, as they tried to leverage Chelsea’s interest in signing Ecuador midfielder Moises Caicedo.

Man City agree £78m Gvardiol deal
Manchester City have agreed a £77.6million with RB Leipzig for the signing of Josko Gvardiol.
It was expected that Gvardiol would cost a world-record fee for a centre-back, but Harry Maguire still holds the title.
Gvardiol will now fly to Manchester to complete the move, and could make his debut in the Community Shield this weekend.
Besiktas explore Pepe deal
Arsenal flop Nicolas Pepe is also attracting interest.
The Turkish club are interested in signing the Ivorian, who has one year left on his deal at Arsenal.
Pepe joined the Gunners in 2019 from Lille in what was then a club-record £72m deal, but has failed to deliver.
Arsenal agree £5m Trusty sale
Arsenal defender Auston Trusty is closing in on a £5million move to Sheffield United.
A number of clubs, including Ipswich Town and Swansea City, had been keen on signing the USA defender this summer.
Newly promoted Premier League side Sheffield United are set to win the race for Trusty, though, after holding talks with the player.
The centre-back joined Arsenal in January 2022 from Colorado Rapids and spent last season on loan at Birmingham City.

Inter to increase Scamacca bid
Inter Milan are set to raise their bid for Gianluca Scamacca to £21.5million plus add-ons, as they step up their move to sign the West Ham striker, writes Nizaar Kinsella.
West Ham last week turned down an opening £20m bid from Inter for Scamacca, who they paid £30.5m for last summer.
The 24-year-old is ready to return to Italy, with Inter confident of signing him ahead of Roma.
David Moyes is open to keeping Scammaca but will seek a replacement should a deal be agreed with Inter.

Special report: Transfer window pain for West Ham
Frustration is setting in at West Ham as the club struggles to make inroads in the transfer market, despite looking to reinvest its Declan Rice windfall.
With just 10 days until their season opener at Bournemouth, the Hammers are the only Premier League club yet to make a summer signing and have pulled out of a deal for Manchester City youngster Carlos Borges.
David Moyes remains keen to add three or four players to his squad before the window closes, but time is running out for the Irons, who risk heading into the new campaign without reinforcements — and minus Rice, who was sold to Arsenal for a British record £105million last month.
Moyes has money to spend but a new-look transfer committee also including Tim Steidten, the former Bayer Leverkusen executive brought in as technical director this summer, are yet to get a deal over the line.

Spurs land cheaper Phillips deal
Tottenham are expected to wrap up the signing of highly-rated Blackburn centre-back Ashley Phillips by the end of the week when a release clause kicks in to his contract.
Last month, Spurs thought they had agreed a deal with Rovers worth £3million up-front and a further £2m in adds-ons, and Phillips travelled to London for a medical.
However, the Championship club upped its asking price to £9.5m (£5m plus £4.5m) at the 11th hour in the hope of sparking a bidding war for Phillips before a £2m release clause in his contract becomes active on Friday, on the eve of the new Championship season.
No rival club has bid for Phillips in the intervening period, however, and the 18-year-old is said to be determined to join Spurs.

ICYMI: Disasi passes Chelsea medical
Axel Disasi to Chelsea is imminent!
Fabrizio Romano reports that the France international defender has now passed his medical ahead of a £38.6m move from Monaco to Stamford Bridge.
Disasi had also been tracked by both Arsenal and Manchester United this summer, though he is heading to west London in order to compensate for the loss of Wesley Fofana to injury, with former Monaco team-mate Benoit Badiashile also sidelined at present.
Disasi’s arrival follows Levi Colwill signing a new six-year deal with Chelsea and he is expected to now pen a five-year contract of his own with the option for a further 12 months.
The move is likely to spell the end of Trevoh Chalobah’s time in blue.
Latest on Hojlund
Rasmus Hojlund is back at Manchester United’s training ground this morning to finalise his move.
Just a few more medical checks to be done, reports Fabrizio Romano, and then he will sign his five-plus-one-year contract.
It’s only a matter of time before Erik ten Hag gets his new striker.
