The summer transfer window is edging ever closer and the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham are all wasting no time getting their business done. The Gunners are closing in on the signing of Declan Rice and have taken a new interest in PSV youngster Xavi Simons. Moises Caicedo is also a target after Arsenal revived their interest from January.

However, Chelsea are also keen on Brighton star Caicedo amid their talks to sign Manuel Ugarte from Sporting CP. Many outgoings are expected this summer and Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic are in talks with Manchester United and Man City, respectively.

United have agreed terms with Mount and must now agree a fee with Chelsea, and are also working on a deal for 20-year-old Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund. Harry Kane is their main target, but he is expected to stay at Tottenham for one more year. Spurs, meanwhile, are closing in on Ange Postecoglou as their new manager. Arsenal are understood to be the favourites for the deal yet Rice’s best mate Mason Mount moving to United could help their move.

It is also said that Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire, Scott McTominay and Anthony Martial could be offered in a players-plus-cash deal.

Arsenal lead Xavi Simons race

Reports in the Netherlands name Arsenal as the lead contenders for the signature of Xavi Simons.

It might even be a cut-price deal for the 20-year-old as PSG hold a buy-back clause worth around £10m.

But Eindhovens Dagblad report on PSV wanting a club-record fee, which would surpass the £37m paid by Liverpool for Cody Gakpo.
