The US President Donald Trump has said he believes Kyiv “could take back the land they lost” to Russia in 2014 and since 2022.

During a meeting with the French President Emmanuel Macron at the White House Trump said, “You’re asking whether or not they (Ukrainians) could take back the land that they lost. And I say that yes, perhaps some of it, yes. But that’s not an easy thing to do.”

President Trump confirmed that this is also part of the current negotiations that started last week in Saudi Arabia.

Trump said, “We’ll see.

“There has been a lot of land that has been taken, so we will have to see how it works out. It’s part of the negotiation.”

Trump has also said that war in Ukraine could end “within weeks” and said that Vladimir Putin could allow European peacekeepers to be stationed in Ukraine.

“I think we could end it within weeks. If we’re smart. If we’re not smart, it’ll keep going, and we’ll keep losing young, beautiful people that shouldn’t be dying.”
